Mission and Vision

The Cincinnati Philharmonic Orchestra is a professional orchestra based in Clermont County, Ohio, but serving the surrounding counties of Hamiton and Brown as well.

Formed during 1997 as the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra, the CPO presented its inaugural concert on October 2, 1997, in collaboration with the 25th anniversary of UC Clermont College. Clermont College, the cultural center of Clermont County, is the current home of the orchestra for rehearsals and concert hall performances. The CPO orchestra and chamber players have performed many concerts at local schools and other social institutions. The CPO Pops has performed numerous outdoor summer concerts at various parks throughout Clermont County. Performances have included such international musical stars as Sandra Rivers, piano, Pip Clarke, violin, John Hendrickson, piano and Alex DePue, the fiddler. The CPO has combined with the West Clermont Schools Strings Orchestras in several performances.

In February of 2018, the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra announced its name change to the Cincinnati Philharmonic Orchestra. With the new name, the CPO hopes to reach an even larger audience, hold more concerts, and attract some exciting guest artists. It will also endeavor to increase its educational impact. At the same time, the CPO will continue its strong and long-standing relationships with the communities of Clermont County.
The mission and purpose of the CPO is the establishment of and furtherance of a professional symphony orchestra, the advancement of music education and music appreciation among the children and students of the community, the enrichment of the community through music, the encouragement, development and support of musicians in the Clermont community, and the promotion and support of the musical productions and special events in the Clermont community and the surrounding area.

The vision of the CPO is an expansion of the mission. We hope to develop opportunities for music making and appreciation among all generations through encouragement for a community chorus, community youth chorus orchestra and band. We hope to aid schools in the area of music career and avocation education. The overall vision is that the enjoyment of fine music be made accessible, relevant and enjoyable to the people living in the Clermont community. As an integral part of the American culture music brings people together, enhances property values, and benefits the quality of life throughout the entire community.
